I will first start off by saying, Fallout 3 does NOT have a multiplayer... at all...
Now, that being said, this may be one of the best games ever.  Fallout 3 won many awards including Best of E3 by both Gamespy AND ign.com.
Fallout 3 is a sandbox gameplay with many new features that some games just can't give you.  A new battle system (called V.A.T.S) gives you control over what part (or parts) of the enemy you want to hit, as well as giving you real-time data about the health of each body part.
Another great feature is the realistic damage.  If your right arm is damaged, and you are right handed, you can't shoot your weapons as well as you could at full health.
You can now talk with people more interactive than ever.  Everyone has a diffrent personality, so you must say what you think they would like to hear... or you may pay with your life...
Fallout 3 takes place in post-apocalyptic Washington, D.C where time is frozen in the 1950's with music, clothing, money, and even buildings that reflect that era.  Although not realistic, it does make you think about how our world would be if an event of this were to happen.
